Funeral services for Alvin “Bud” Leroy Heinrich, 85, of Chamberlain will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Ola with burial in the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery at rural Chamberlain. Visitation will be Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.
Alvin L. Heinrich was born September 10, 1926 to Selma (Anderson) and Jesse Heinrich at Ola, SD. He attended his eight years of grade school at the Keiner School and farmed with his dad for a time until he was 18 years old. He went to service with the Army and was stationed in Texas for a year. He then returned home and continued farming in the Ola area. Alvin married June Hickey on July 6, 1946 in Chamberlain and to this union four children were born: Diana, James, Donald, and Richard. They bought the Willrodt place in 1955 and together they lived and farmed in the Ola area until moving to Riverview Retirement in Chamberlain.
He worked at the Chamberlain Sale Barn for 10 years. Alvin was a member of the American Legion. He served on the School Board for 17 years and was also a 4-H leader for the Ola Orioles for 5 years.
Alvin passed away on June 5, 2012 at the Platte Care Center in Platte at the age of 85 years. Gratefully sharing his life are his three sons James Heinrich and wife Norma of Goodyear, AZ, Don Heinrich and wife Sandy of Chamberlain, and Richard Heinrich and wife Vicki of Upton, WY; daughter Diane Haynes and husband Marc of Upton, WY; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one sister Ilith Saukerson of Chamberlain. Preceding him in death were his wife June Heinrich; his parents, one sister Irene Heinrich; and one brother Arlin Heinrich.
